Calling all Morris mavens! There’s a must-see exhibition in town…

When: 5 April – 21 September 2025

Where: William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow, London

Admission: Free entry

Curated by Hadrian Garrard, Director of William Morris Gallery, as part of the gallery’s 75th-anniversary celebrations, Morris Mania is an immersive exhibition that explores how Morris’s prints and patterns have – in the gallery’s own words – “gone viral”.

We’ve always been big ‘Morris Maniacs’ ourselves and have several of his most celebrated prints dotted around our home. So, as you can imagine, we’re incredibly proud that 5 lampshades from our very own William Morris collection are part of the exhibition!

We were lucky enough to visit the exhibition on opening day! As we expected, it’s a haven for anyone who adores the work of the man who has inspired many interior design aficionados with these immortal words: “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”

Over 200 items are on display, showcasing Morris’s designs and highlighting his lasting influence on popular culture. From Nike trainers to a nuclear-submarine seat, via an array of everyday items including mugs, biscuit tins and shower curtains, the exhibition shows just how deeply Morris’s work permeates popular culture – even in the most unexpected places.

One of the highlights for us was the newly commissioned work Wallpaper, created by archive documentary filmmaker Natalie Cubides-Brady. The piece explores how William Morris’s designs have been used throughout screen history – something that’s always fascinated us, as we’ve spotted them in numerous TV shows and films over the years! We also loved the Living with Morris archive of public photographs, which highlights how Morris’s designs provide a backdrop to everyday life.

If you have Morris prints in your home and would love to be part of the exhibition, there’s still time to send in your photos! Head to the William Morris Gallery website to find out more and plan your own visit to the exhibition.

Trust us, it’s not to be missed!
